Commonly Asked Questions

What does a session look like?

We will meet in my office or over video for 50-minutes. Your sessions will be held as yours at the same day & time each week. You will be encourage to begin wherever you want. Sometimes people need a “prompt,” and I will recall what we discussed previous sessions or help you track the major themes of our work. This is to facilitate focus. If there was ‘homework,’ we will check-in about whether it was useful… or not! Your honest feedback is always welcome as it helps me provide more attuned and specialized care. I will ask you questions, listen intently, reflect what I hear and offer suggestions. We will track how we are with our goals, what’s working, what’s hard, and explore how to get you to where you want to go.

Why therapy?

Therapy is a tool for people to help them feel better in their lives. Different tools are helpful at different moments and, sometimes a moment requires more than one tool. Many people find that meeting regularly with a skilled practitioner, particularly one who is trained in depth-listening, and who can track and understand the complexity of their emotional experience is a profoundly meaningful experience. This kind of support and care can lead to lasting, life-changing growth and development.

How long will it take?

I cannot offer a definitive answer about length of treatment. Due to financial constraints, some people say they want to come in for X amount of sessions and do a ‘piece of work.’ Other people come in steadily for months or years. I welcome all kinds of work in my practice.
